How can we use land more efficiently when developing new homes in New York City?

For many decades, New York City has failed to produce adequate living spaces to keep pace with the rising demand from population and job opportunities. The underproduction of housing has created a housing shortage that has decreased quality of life for New Yorkers, driving people away from the city and forcing them to live in surrounding towns and cities.

Currently, New Yorkers in the lowest income brackets are faced with the issues of this housing crisis as they have to pay a higher share of taxes for their income as a result of this depressed economy.

There are two reasons why the currency housing situation in New York is bad for New Yorkers, the economy, and the City's overall health.

New York City is becoming impossible to live in, mostly relating to the cost of living. Meanwhile, there are plenty of apartments that are still vacant. This is because the prices being asked cannot keep up with the average wages people are paid.

So, what can you do to help?
